A downloadable game for Windows

This game was made in 72 Hours for Ludum Dare 43 with the theme: "Sacrifices must be made"

You owe a lot of money to a shady space pirate. Pay him back by destroying other ships and stealing their money. You have 3 minutes to pay off your current payment, if you haven’t collected enough money by then, you need to SACRIFICE your ship components to get the money you need. Those can also be lost in combat and also gained when left intact after you destroy an enemy. If you lose a component you can buy a bad emergency component to keep going. I had no time for Audio sorry about that.

Bug Reports are appreciated I had literally no time to test the finished version.

The game is lacking a lot of content, especially because there aren’t enough different components, but I had a lot of fun so I might continue the project.

  • W to accelerate
  • A/D to turn

I was able to open the ZIP file, thank you. I also use WinRAR (an old version true), so it's strange that I cannot open the RAR files. Also tried RAR Opener from Windows store and Free Unrar (both of which should be recent versions), but all give errors.

Anyway, I think the game has potential. I fist saw Tim Ruskwick play it on a Feedback Friday and I liked the concept. When I tried playing it I found it very hard, so I think Tim just got lucky to make it to the second level :).

Don't know if it's worth your time to do more work on it, but here's some ideas to make it more playable:

1. Having a small radar/mini-map of the area so you can see where the enemies and drop offs are, otherwise you can just wonder around until your time is up and not find anything.

2. More progression, that is, easier enemies at the start that shoot less often and maneuver slower and drop off more loot.

3. Maybe have some credits just floating around that can be found without destroying an enemy.

Thank you for the feedback! If I work on it again I'll definetly add a radar, it even gets annoying for me to find enemies. The original concept for the progression was that slowly stronger and stronger enemies appear with better and better parts, so you can take them and get stronger too, but right now the enemies only have 1 set of parts so that kinda ruins it. Credits floating in Space sounds like a good idea too.

Looks like a cool game idea worth trying.

However I had trouble opening the rar files. Tried both downloads using 3 different programs and all reported errors. Can you maybe upload a zip file, it might be easier to access?

Really? I use winrar and that usually works great.  I just uploaded a zip version try that one! Should be named "SpareParts_v1.0 (Windows) [ZIP FILE]" so quite obvious. Tell me if it works. Hope it's worth the effort though, it doesn't have much content and is kinda difficult to understand since it's a very rushed Jam Game.
